FAQ
Questions, answered
Straight answers about making, owning and paying for a video — each one read from the product rather than written for a brochure.
What is ClipSpell?
ClipSpell writes the script, records the voiceover, animates the captions to the word, composes the motion graphics and renders the file — then checks the result before it reaches you.
How long does a video take to make?
Minutes, not hours. It runs on our servers, so you can close the tab; the project page names each stage as it finishes.
How long can a video be?
From 10 seconds to 2 minutes, for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts alike. The Free plan’s test video is up to 30 seconds. That is the length the script is written to: the finished video is as long as its recorded voice, so it can come out a little over or under.
Which languages does it speak?
English, in 9 American and British voices. For now, write the topic in English too.
Where can it post?
Through each platform’s official API, now or at a time you schedule. Connected accounts come with the Starter, Creator and Studio plans. YouTube publishes for any account you connect. TikTok delivers the video into your drafts, and you publish it from the app. Instagram works only for accounts added as testers, until the platform approves ClipSpell for everyone. You can render and download whatever the platforms say, and the connections page repeats this per platform rather than offering a button that cannot work.
Publishing, in detailWho owns the videos?
You do. We claim no ownership of your scripts, narration, scenes or finished videos, and no right to publish or resell them.
Terms, section 6Can I use the videos commercially?
We claim no rights over what you make. The models that write, speak and draw carry their own licences, and section 6 of the terms lists the ones in use — read them before a commercial launch.
The licences in useHow do credits work?
An estimate is held before a video starts. When it finishes you pay for what ran, and the rest is released. A 45-second video holds about 11 credits today.
How credits workDo credits expire?
No. Unused credits stay on your workspace for as long as the account is open.
What if a render fails?
It costs nothing. Work that fails releases its hold, and a render that fails quality control returns its credits in full.
Do I need a card to start?
No. A new workspace makes one free test video of up to 30 seconds, with the 7 credits it is given. More videos, and longer ones, come with a plan.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel from the billing page at any time: the next renewal stops and credits already granted stay. You may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days with Withdraw from contract here on the billing page, or by writing to us. Because checkout asks you to start the plan as soon as you pay, we refund what you paid less the value of the plan’s credits already used, and once all of them have been used the plan has been provided in full and can no longer be withdrawn from.
Terms, section 9Can I change plan later?
Yes. Changing plan happens in Stripe’s billing portal, which prorates the difference.
Is every stage charged?
No. A script, voice or picture made by a local model or a template is not charged. The render itself always is, at about 5 seconds of video per credit.
Do you train AI on my videos?
No. Nothing in ClipSpell sends your content to a training system. Cards stay on Stripe’s own pages, and we never ask for a social media password.
Do I have to label videos as AI-made?
Often, and the duty sits with the account that posts. ClipSpell sends the platform’s own flag for AI-generated or synthetic content with every Instagram Reel, every YouTube upload and every TikTok direct post. A TikTok draft goes without one, so label it yourself. ClipSpell also signs each video it renders with Content Credentials: a record inside the file, in the C2PA standard, that says it was made with AI. A video whose record could not be written is not posted, and is not charged. It does not replace the platform’s label.
Terms, section 10Can I bring my own script, music or logo?
Yes: paste a finished script that reads in up to 2 minutes (30 seconds for the Free plan’s test video), upload music you have the rights to, and add a logo or watermark. Footage and voice samples are not accepted yet.
