Features
Everything it does, and where it stops
Each line here is something the product does today, with its limit beside it. Nothing on this page is a plan.
Writing
9 formats and 9 tones
Explainer, Documentary & history, Motivation, Fast facts, Top list, Mystery, News explainer, Product explainer and Story. Each format gives the writer its own brief, and each tone its own register.
Bring your own script
Paste a finished script and it is measured and priced before you commit. The writing is skipped and yours is followed.
An opening that earns the next second
The first line of the script is drawn over the opening shot as a headline, so somebody scrolling with the sound off still gets the hook. Composed from the narration, never invented, and held to the two lines the frame can carry.
An end card, if you want one
A closing call to action on screen, with an optional spoken line under it. Off unless you ask for it.
Voice
9 voices
American and British English, male and female. Each one is previewed on the create form before you choose.
Timed to the word
The voiceover comes with per-word timings, and the captions and the cuts follow them — so no scene cuts while the voice is still speaking.
Captions
7 caption styles
Highlight pill, Word pop, Hype, One word, Clean, Karaoke sweep and Documentary. Laid out against each platform’s safe area and checked before anything is encoded.
Drawn from the renderer’s own presets. The beat is fixed here; in a video it follows the voice.
Visuals
7 art styles, or matched to the format
Comic ink, Watercolour, Flat vector, Graphic noir, Storybook, Retro print and Pencil — or leave it on the default and the format decides.
One character, every scene
Name who recurs and they are drawn once, then shown to the illustrator for every scene — so the same build, clothing and colouring carry through instead of a different figure in each shot. It holds the build, the clothes and, in most shots, the face; a face too small to see or a profile can still drift.
Camera and transitions
A slow continuous drift across every still, and transitions chosen to suit vertical video. No frame is a duplicate of the one before it — measured, not assumed.
An optional glitch on the cuts
An RGB-split glitch on the transitions, off unless you switch it on.
Sound
7 music moods
Tension, Mystery, Dark, Epic, Uplifting, Playful and Calm. Synthesised at render time, so there is no licence to hold, and each format picks one unless you do.
Your own tracks
Upload music you have the right to use and it is laid under the whole video.
Ducked under the voice
The music drops whenever the narrator speaks and comes back between sentences.
Brand
Logo and watermark
A logo in a corner for the first few seconds and a watermark for the whole video, both checked against the safe area so nothing lands under a caption.
Quality
It checks its own work
Black frames, silent audio, captions outside the safe area and the wrong length are probed before you see the video, and the report is on the project page.
A failed render is free
Work that fails releases its hold, and a render that fails quality control returns its credits in full.
Platform-aware output
Per-platform aspect ratios, duration limits, file-size ceilings and safe areas, enforced rather than suggested.
Editing
Fix one shot, not the video
Redraw a single scene, or re-record its line, and only that scene is regenerated before the video is re-encoded. Every cut is kept as its own version, so a redraw never overwrites what you had: earlier cuts can be downloaded from the project page, though not restored.
Versions are kept
Every cut stays as its own version. Switching back to an earlier one is not built yet.
Close the tab, it keeps going
The render runs on a worker, not in your browser. The page names the stage it is on and counts the scenes as they finish, and if the machine doing the work dies the job is picked up and carried on rather than lost.
Publishing
Posting, now or on a schedule
To YouTube, TikTok (as a draft) and Instagram (testers only), through each platform’s official API, with a description and hashtags written with the script. Connected accounts come with the Starter, Creator and Studio plans.
YouTube today
YouTube publishes for any account you connect.
TikTok today
TikTok delivers the video into your drafts, and you publish it from the app.
Instagram today
Instagram works only for accounts added as testers, until the platform approves ClipSpell for everyone.
A calendar of what goes out
Scheduled posts and series slots, in your workspace’s timezone.
Download every video
Every finished video downloads as an MP4, whatever the platforms say.
Series
A series that keeps going
Set a cadence from weekly up to twice a day and the videos keep arriving, at a wall-clock time in your own timezone that survives a daylight-saving change. Publishing stays off until you turn it on, and a series that fails three times running pauses itself instead of spending credits in silence. Recurring series come with the Creator and Studio plans.
5 cadences
Once a week, Three times a week, Every other day, Every day and Twice a day. The form shows the credits a week at that pace, and how many weeks your balance covers.
Analytics
Read back from YouTube
What your published YouTube posts did, read back on a widening schedule — often while a post is young, rarely once it has settled. Nothing is collected for TikTok or Instagram: each reports a post’s figures only to an app holding a permission ClipSpell does not ask for.
Team
Workspaces and roles
People join a workspace by invitation, as an admin, editor, creator or viewer. An invitation expires after a week. Every plan includes one seat for now, so a workspace is one person until plans with more seats are on sale.
Account
Credits you can audit
An append-only ledger. You are charged for what actually ran, change one scene and you pay for that scene and the re-encode rather than the whole video again, and a render that fails quality control returns its credits in full.
Your work is not deleted for age
No project, render or finished video is deleted for its age, and nothing is guaranteed to remain either: download anything you need to keep. Closing your account is a button in Settings and it stops all access at once; erasing the files behind it is a separate request to us, which the privacy notice explains.
See it on a topic of your own.
